Convergence (2008)
New dance, architecture and media inside a 17,000 sq. ft. garage.
What if our environment sensed our physical presence and responded to it in a manner that suggested a kind of reciprocal dialogue? In this collaboration between dance, architecture and sensory intelligence, CONVERGENCE considers that potential.
Four installations – “Position”, “Enclosure”, “Proximity” and “Compression” have been constructed, encoded and choreographed to align both habitat and habitation in an emotive and dynamic totality. An analog piece for movement and voice, Boundary, the fifth feature, is performed in an abandoned cargo container, a fixture of the garage space. The dances are a series of amplified physical dialogues presented within the various constructions throughout the garage.
