Triggers (2009)
In Triggers, choreographed by Liz Burritt, The Seldoms use the dinner table, the epicenter of the family, as a jumping off place for the piece. They focus on the deeply buried reactive treasure that resides within each of us, unearthing the personal maps that determine how and why we are Compelled, Moved, Repulsed, Surprised, Enraged, Overwhelmed...
The dancers bravely take their internal maps in hand and examine, ride along with, interrupt, and perhaps turn the tables on the causes that trigger humans to behave the way they do. To illustrate the effect of human behavior, the dancers drop a small stone in the water and follow the ripples, exploring how the chain of events triggered in one soul, in one group, in one family can color the bigger picture.
